Kerry is a self taught artist. She grew up in Western Australia watching her father sketch and doodle. He encouraged her interest in sketching with advice to ‘stop, look and see’.
Artist Statement
- Scribbling, sketching and playing with paints has been a creative process for most of my life.
- Purchasing art books and magazines I practised techniques, filled numerous sketch pads and my first love was watercolours.
- The busyness of life (marriage, 4 gorgeous daughters and full time work), saw a lot less art for many years. As the family grew up and out I rediscovered my pad and paints and found my ‘soul work’ once again.
- I am a prolific painter, wildlife, landscapes, abstracts, seascapes, it brings me joy. There is always paint under my fingernails, paint on every piece of clothing including my PJ’s. My passion for the brights and lights, the darks and mysterious is such a fascinating journey through the world of art. I paint, losing hours at a time and I love it.
- A small coffee group has become a larger art group – Back Road Artists (BRA) – and has created incentive, support , laughter, like minded creativity, critiques, interesting techniques and unarguably friendship in art.
