Karen works exclusively with soft pastels. She has been influenced by Australian artist Clarice Beckett and ceramics painter, Clarice Cliff.
Karen has a very broad range of subjects that she paints. Her choice of subject is influenced by the effect of ‘light’, shadow and shape. 2024 was a very successful year for Karen.
Her work achieved placings at Bell Art Exhibition, Toowoomba Show and a second place for her ‘still life’, ‘Chasing the Light’, in the Australian Pastel Society exhibition. She also had 4 paintings accepted for the Downlands Art Show.
After a recent trip to the South of France to workshop and paint, the influence of a different ‘light’ can be seen in some of her paintings. Karen’s paintings can be seen at The Chapel Gallery, Highfields.
